Nea Potidea

Geographically, Kassandra is literally an “island”. When entering the region you pass by Nea Potidea. The town was already significant from the ancient times, due to its location, and was called “the Gates of Kassandra”.

The view over the canal which joins the Toroneos to the Thermaikos gulf is breathtaking, when one looks down from the bridge.

Parts of the Justinian walls exist at the entrance of the peninsula and are on the inner side of the road which separates the town from the canal. The walls end at the western part at the port, where a tower over the gulf lies. The spiritual landmark is the church of Taxiarches, built with material of the ancient settlement.

Nea Potidea has a fishing port, beaches, bicycle roads, local taverns and an overwhelming sunset view over the canal. Moreover, visitors can have a relaxed walk through the town streets, take a look at the lighthouse at the edge of the beach and enjoy a cool drink at the local bars.

Nea Potidea welcomes you to the Kassandra Peninsula!
